Lucky Aide Grocery was founded in 1978 by Frank and Dorothy Callahan in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
What began as a single 4,000 square foot neighborhood market on Montgomery Boulevard has grown into
one of the Southwest's most recognized and trusted grocery chains, with 147 stores across
13 states and more than 14,200 team members.
Throughout our 25-year history, Lucky Aide has remained committed to the values Frank and Dorothy
established on opening day: honest prices, fresh products, and friendly service. While we
have grown significantly, we have never lost sight of our roots as a community grocery store.
In 1991, Lucky Aide became the first grocery chain in the Southwest to introduce a loyalty card
program, the Lucky Aide Member Card, which today saves our customers an average of $22
per week on their grocery bills. In 1998, we launched our store-brand line of products under the
Lucky Aide Brand label, now featuring over 400 items at prices 20–30% lower than
national brands.
In 2001, Lucky Aide completed its largest acquisition to date, merging with Value Fresh Markets
of Texas, adding 31 locations and expanding our footprint into the South. We continue to look for
new opportunities to bring the Lucky Aide value and experience to more families across the country.
Our Mission: To provide every customer with fresh, quality groceries and household products
at the best possible prices, in a clean, friendly, and convenient shopping environment.

► Community
Lucky Aide stores are part of the neighborhoods they serve. We hire locally, source locally when possible, and give back through charitable programs that support families in need in every community we operate in.
